Copper Sky Dental is in Peoria, on Thunderbird Road, and we see patients from all over the West Valley, including a good number who drive in from Glendale. We are an adults-only general practice serving patients 18 and older. A lot of our Glendale patients pass closer dental offices to get here, and the reasons they give come down to continuity and having time with the dentist at an independent, local practice.

What services are available without a referral?

From routine preventive care and general dentistry to dental implants, dentures, gum care, restorative work, and urgent visits, most of what you need happens in our office.

Does it matter for insurance that the office is in a different city?

No. A plan cares about the network an office belongs to, not the city on its address. What should you bring to a first visit?

How do you move your care from a previous dentist?

Ask for your records, close out anything urgent, and give the new office the full picture. You do not have to explain why you are leaving. Under federal privacy rules, you have a right to a copy of your dental records, though an office may charge a reasonable fee for copies. If you prefer, give us the previous dentist's name and location and we will request your X-rays and chart.

A few things make the handoff smoother:

• Recent X-rays: a full set and your latest bitewings let a new dentist compare rather than start over, and can spare you images that do not need to be retaken.
• Gum measurements: past pocket readings show whether your gums are stable or changing, which a single exam cannot tell.
• A list of major work: roughly when you had crowns, root canals, bridges, or implants, and where. For an implant, the office that placed it may have a record of the system used, which helps with future repairs.
• Any plan in progress: if a tooth is partway through treatment, such as a temporary crown, tell both offices so it is finished rather than forgotten in the move.

How do you get to the office from Glendale?

From most parts of Glendale, our office is a short drive west on Thunderbird Road, or the Loop 101 to the Thunderbird Road exit and then west. We are at 9431 W Thunderbird Rd Ste 2 in Peoria, a bit east of 95th Avenue, on the south side of Thunderbird immediately west of 94th Drive. It is easy to reach from Arrowhead Ranch, historic downtown Glendale, or anywhere in between. Free parking is at the office.

What if a dental problem starts on a Friday?

The office is closed Friday through Sunday, so call and leave a message, and we will call you back on our next clinic day, which is Monday if you call Thursday afternoon or over the weekend. For swelling that affects breathing, uncontrolled bleeding, or a knocked-out tooth, go to the nearest emergency room.
